The Powerwall 3 is the battery we quote most often, and for good reason. It packs 13.5 kWh of usable storage and an integrated inverter into a single unit. One box on the wall, one warranty, one very good app. For most Cairns families using 25 to 35 kWh a day, one Powerwall covers the evening and overnight load with room to spare.
The integrated inverter matters more than people realise. It means a Powerwall 3 can anchor a brand new solar system on its own, without a separate inverter purchase. The app is the other big win. Owners actually use it, which means they shift usage into daylight hours and get more value from the system. From 1 May 2026 the discount is tiered at about $252 per usable kWh for the first 14 kWh, so a 13.5 kWh battery lands near the maximum of that first tier.
